Dr. Md. Abdul Malak is an accomplished geographer and Associate Professor in the Department of Geography and Environment at Jagannath University, Bangladesh. With over a decade of research experience, his work focuses on climate change adaptation, human mobility, climate justice, livelihoods, resilience, and spatial analysis. He holds a PhD in Human Geography from the University of Wollongong, Australia, where his thesis explored livelihood resilience in wetland communities. He has authored or co-authored 22 published journal articles and 4 book chapters, with additional works under review. His research has been featured in renowned publications such as Migration and Development, International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction, Natural Hazards, International Journal of Disaster Risk Science, and Environment, Development and Sustainability. Dr. Malak has led or contributed to 15 research and consultancy projects, funded by organizations like the Population Council, USA, the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), Oxfam Bangladesh, and the Ministry of Science and Technology, Bangladesh. Currently serving as the Director of the Centre for Climate, Society, and Environment at Jagannath University, Dr. Malak leads impactful research initiatives and collaborates on international projects. His work also includes supervising graduate theses and teaching courses on Rural Geography and Development, Geography of Development, Climate Justice and Equity, Geography, and Natural Resource Studies.
